Title:
Import selected entries only

Area:
Importer

Summary:
Import only entries with a certain tag from other services

Description:
So far the only option to import from another service is to import all journal entries.
I think a good other option would be to import entries by tag - so you could import all entires that contain fic, recipes or knitting paterns, but leave out year old posts about everyday chatter and events long past.

Another selected import option could be to only import entries on a matter of privacy celection (public posts only or private posts only)

Title:
Keyword Search of Icon Descriptions When Posting

Area:
posting

Summary:
With 250 icons to choose from, it can take a really long time to scroll through them when choosing one for posting or comments. I know they're organized alphabetically by title. Could we have them keyword-searchable?

Description:
When I make an entry or a post, I choose the icon to go with it, and currently the reply frame is set up so "Icon To Use" gives you a dropdown menu showing all your icons alphabetized by the name you've given them. But with 250 icons, that's still a lot of icons to search through, and I wondered if it would be possible to augment this with a Search Keyword option. What this would do would be search through your icon titles based on the keyword you typed in and present the results to you in the dropdown menu after which you could make your selection.

Assuming you put in a unique keyword in the search box, you could just pop up the exact icon you were looking for, and if you didn't, you could at least narrow the selection of icons you had to look through to choose the one you want.

I see this as a Paid/Premium feature, both since it would be widget-intensive, and because that's the account level with 250 icons.

Title:
Improve UI for Filter Management

Area:
Filters

Summary:
Change the way filters are managed in the organise area so that you can see which accounts are in which filter, and improve taskflow and interface to be more intuitive.

Description:
Having finally set up some reading filters, I find the management page is only a slight improvement on the LJ standard that's been difficult to use for years.

I want to ensure that
a) all accounts I subscribe are in at least one filter
b) Accounts aren't accidentally added to more than one filter

I have two filters for my feeds-Science&Media and Politics&Economics. I set up one, then went back to do the other. While doing this, I had no way of knowing which I'd already added to the other filter. As I can already view all feeds, if using the filter it's so that I can catch up on elements, I don't want duplication in that filter.

Proposal:
List all accounts in a filterable list on the left. Have a column for each filter going along the top, with a checkbox for each account. Ideally have the columns in an iframe or similar so the accounts stay static (and viewable) if horizontal scrolling is necessary.

Then you can quickly scan across for each account, and scan down for each filter, to see what is in which and ensure you've got the right accounts in the right filter.

Title:
post-location

Area:
email posting

Summary:
There exists commands to edit metadata fields for mood, music, etc, but not location. I think there should be.

Description:
There already exists a bunch of commands (post-userpic, post-tags, post-mood, etc.) to edit metadata when posting by email but the location field is missing. Creation of post-location or similar would be useful for those who use the location metadata. I don't know what it technically involves, but I doubt it would be that much, given other tags already exist.

Title:
Enable sending PMs to OpenID display names

Area:
inbox

Summary:
Currently OpenIDs can only receive PMs sent to their ext_12345 system names. It would be nice to be able to send PMs to their normally-displayed names.

Description:
Today I was corresponding via PM with an OpenID user. The OpenID user had no problem sending me a private message, but when I clicked Reply in my inbox, typed up my message and went to send, the system told me that this other user's x.livejournal.com OpenID name -- which was what the system had inserted in the recipient field *for* me when I hit reply -- was not a valid username. To reply to the PM I had to go look around the user's profile page until I was able to figure out their ext_ system name, which was not exactly an intuitive process. Since Dreamwidth goes out of its way not to make users deal with the ext_ names whenever it can be avoided, it would be nice if we could also send PMs to OpenID folk via their regular display names.
