Title:
turning off (or on) poll notifications on a per poll basis
Area:
polls
Summary:
I would like to be able to turn off the notifications specific polls somewhere, like you can turn off the comment emails on a per post basis, even if you prefer in general to get such notifications.
Description:
For some polls -- notably the polls that go along with suggestions in this very comm -- I'd like not get notifications, because there are often a lot of responses and it isn't even really my poll (not like polls in my journal). But in general I want to know if someone answered a poll that has been posted by me, especially the older ones that I wouldn't look at otherwise, so I don't want to turn off poll notifications entirely either.
So I'd like to be able to fine-tune the notifications I get like you can do for comment emails on a specific post. As polls can't be edited and there is no existing drop down field like in the entry post form, I imagine for implementation that there could be something like a ticky box you see for your own polls when you go to the poll view, so that next to the "close poll" link there would be an option "get notified of responses" or something like that. This tickybox would as default be checked if that was your global preference, or unchecked if your global preference was not to get poll notifications, but you could change it there in the poll view for this particular poll.
That would also have the advantage that you could turn off poll notifications for the first rush of responses when you may visit the post itself for discussion frequently anyway and see the poll, but then turn them back on again two days later, so you'll still get notice of "straggler" responses.
