Title:
Mood Theme Editor: some improvements

Area:
mood themes

Summary:
Creating a mood via the console is pretty easy. Creating a mood via the editor (http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/moodthemes) would be quite easy too if a few improvements were made i.e. if:

Description:
-- moods were sorted alphabetically.

-- top moods (i.e. moods other moods can be derived from) were clearly marked as such.

-- you could specify one width, one height and have it apply to all images. I suggest two boxes at the top to enter the values then a checkbox to fill all other boxes with the same values (these could be manually overridden of course).

-- boxes were grayed out when you can't enter any value (this happens when you choose to use the same image for severals moods and the inherit box is checked).

Title:
Smarter mood theme import

Area:
moods, making life easier

Summary:
You should be able to aim the mood theme assignment tool at a web-accessible directory with images named after the moods, and have it assign the image of the same name as the mood to that mood.

Description:
Currently, assigning images to moods in a theme either means console commands or entering the URI of the specific image for each mood in the custom mood theme editor (http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/moodthemes).

You should be able to point the custom mood theme editor to a web directory with images in it, and have the editor iterate through the names of the moods and check to see if there is an image file (of acceptable image file types/extensions, in any reasonable case combination, for case-sensitive hosts) named for that mood; if there is one, then it should set that mood's image accordingly. (Or, to save time and computerjuice, ask the user to specify the file extension and capitalization of name/extension, as well as the directory location, then iterate through once those have been pre-filled-in.)

Once DW's image hosting has been set up, this should be easily adoptable to work with upload-and-set-mood-theme.

This would trade user convenience for some of Dreamwidth's processing power and bandwidth. Creating custom mood themes is already a paid feature. If it would be necessary to pay more for this, it might be a decent premium paid feature.

Title:
Export Mood Themes

Area:
moods, making life easier

Summary:
Make the full moodtheme_setpic console commands to import a custom mood theme to a journal exportable, given the custom mood theme is already installed on the journal and the user is the owner.

Description:
So you've got a lovely custom mood theme on your journal, and you've either added it one by one or lost the console commands to bulk upload it, and you find yourself in want of the console commands to bulk upload it.

Perhaps you've just moved image host domains, and the picture location's the same, relatively speaking, but the domain is different. Perhaps you've made the mood theme, and a friend expresses their admiration, and hey, they have a paid account too, and your image host can handle a little extra traffic... Or you're moving journals rather than renaming. Or you're setting up a second journal, or multiple roleplay journals, and you want the same mood theme.

This could probably be done user-side with a script, but it would be nice to have it do-able from Dreamwidth's end, to make things easier.

If the feature is journal-owner only, this eliminates any concerns about a person stealing another's mood theme: someone can already copy someone else's mood theme by hand.

Title:
Allow optional alt text in custom mood themes

Area:
mood themes

Summary:
Allow creators of custom mood themes to add optional alt text to describe images where the mood itself is not enough for rich description.

Description:
As discussed in http://dw-accessibility.dreamwidth.org/10005.html, some mood themes (usually custom ones) can be richly described by more than the mood itself. Many, for example, use images from shared media which could be interesting to anyone who shares an interest in the media source. For example, if there were a Smallville mood theme, the text would say something like "happy -- Clark smiling at Chloe" or "sad -- Lex when his car is destroyed".

For many simple mood themes, most likely including all official ones, mood icon image descriptions would just add pointless noise. "Happy -- smiling star" doesn't add much information over "Happy". Also, this would need to be documented well so makers of custom mood themes understand what kind of alt text is likely to be useful (if any), otherwise it will add pointless noise.

Suggestion: edit http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/moodthemes to include an optional text-entry field to add alt text. Write a brief and easy-to-understand description of what is useful mood theme alt text, explaining that leaving it blank may be the best choice. Then allow mood themes to have non-blank alt text.
