Title:
Include tag cloud on profile page

Area:
Profiles, tags

Summary:
Include a tag cloud on each user/comm's profile page as an easy way to see what they frequently post about.

Description:
Today I found myself looking at someone's list of interests and accidentally almost clicked on one of them expecting to see a list of their posts about that topic. I realised that it was kind of weird not to have that "what I actually post about" data represented on the profile somehow.

Thinking about it, I realised that while most people have a tag cloud or list on their journal itself, not everyone does and not all styles support it. I guess that's the counter-argument to "but it's on their journal page anyway".

As for other ways of implementing it... it seems to me like there's some duplication between interests and tags, really. Or maybe tension between them. Interests are what you *say* you're interested in, but tags often reflect it better. I have things in my interests list that I've never posted about, and things I post about (and tag) quite often that aren't in my interests list.

I also wonder whether we could link tags and interests together somehow? For instance, when you search for people interested in "knitting" could there be some information there about not just people who *say* it in their interests, but also "these people *post* about knitting" based on their tags? Or in its simplest form, just a filtered view of recent posts about knitting.

Title:
Profile flag for presence in another's circle

Area:
profile

Summary:
A flag on certain usernames when they are listed in the profiles of others, whether or not you have subscribed to them or granted them access.

Description:
The usernames of people in your own circle are flagged (with <em> and <strong>) when they appear in the profiles of others. However, there may be particular other users (who you have no desire to subscribe to or grant access) that you would like to be flagged about when you are looking at the profile of someone else.

You could, of course, search for them yourself, but the human memory is a fickle thing and one may not remember all the people one wanted to notice.

One would enter the usernames in a list somewhere (with some sensible limit for list length) and then see a special character after the username when it appears in someone else's profile list (maybe even one's own).

This could work in conjunction with the Notes feature if that is brought over from LiveJournal.

Title:
Visibility of information and who can view information on profile page

Area:
profile page

Summary:
If profile information (eg. birthday, contact information, etc.) has been set to 'registered accounts' or 'access list only', alert those users who are in the respective groups.

Description:
On my profile page, I can choose to make my information visible in the following ways: everybody, registered accounts, access list only, or nobody.

The problem with this is that people who view my profile don't know what setting I have chosen. Example, if I chose 'registered accounts' or 'access list only', logged-in users, who visited my profile, would ony assume that my information is publicly viewable. They can share my information with other users not realising that they're not supposed to do so.

My suggestion is to have a way of alerting only those users who belong to either group if the information on the profile page has been set to either 'registered accounts' or 'access list only'.

For instance, if I chose 'registered accounts' - then logged-in users, who visit my profile page, would see text informing them that my information is visible to registered accounts only.

If I chose 'access list only' - then the users to whom I have given access, who visit my profile page, would see text informing them that my information is visible to my access list only.

Title:
Allow name section to be hidden

Area:
Profiles

Summary:
An option to allow the name field in profiles to be hidden.

Description:
As stated here:

http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/see_request.bml?id=2155

The Name Field used to hide when custom titles and the name field were the same.

I'm not suggesting this be put back in, since it was a bug what I suggest is an option to hide the name field on the profile (like you can hide your email, location, etc.) regardless of what is put in the custom title.

To me, I prefer not having the name field in my profile since it looks neater.

ETA: Or, if you vote "Should be implemented with changes" perhaps not forcing people to input anything in the name field? Not sure how that would work.

To those who are wondering, this is a choice that I and many others like to have on our layouts, I have grown used to this layout style but I still do not like that section where the name appears, since my other contact info (sans email) is below my bio.
