Title:
Disambiguate authorship in Site Scheme(s)

Area:
styles

Summary:
When viewing a journal with ?style=site, it's difficult in some cases to figure out who the author is.

Description:
See <a href="http://elf.dreamwidth.org/2010/09/16/?style=site">this entry</a>. <user name=elf> asks people to link to the date of the entry rather than the entry's individual URL. I'm viewing the page in Tropospherical Red; I can see <user name=elf>'s icon, but not hir name.

I found similar issues when viewing:

* <a href="http://elf.dreamwidth.org/2010/?style=site">by year</a>; neither username nor icon is shown.

* <a href="http://elf.dreamwidth.org/?style=site"> recent entries</a>, ditto.

* <http://denise.dreamwidth.org/2009/01/?style=site>by month</a>; username is given twice, but so discreetly you'd think that mentioning authorship is taboo.

* <a href="http://denise.dreamwidth.org/2009/02/20/?style=site">by date</a> on a day that multiple entries were made, ditto.

...These issues are common to all combinations of journal style + site scheme that I checked (a not-thorough number of permutations of elf, me, and denise versus Tropo Red, Tropo Purple, Celerity, and Lynx).

This is especially bad in cases where a ?style=site URL might be widely circulated among people unfamiliar with LJ/DW, as in my first example.

In conclusion: For individual journals, the username should be prominent. For comms, the comm name and poster's username should be prominent.

Mood Theme Editor: some improvements

Area:
mood themes

Summary:
Creating a mood via the console is pretty easy. Creating a mood via the editor (http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/moodthemes) would be quite easy too if a few improvements were made i.e. if:

Description:
-- moods were sorted alphabetically.

-- top moods (i.e. moods other moods can be derived from) were clearly marked as such.

-- you could specify one width, one height and have it apply to all images. I suggest two boxes at the top to enter the values then a checkbox to fill all other boxes with the same values (these could be manually overridden of course).

-- boxes were grayed out when you can't enter any value (this happens when you choose to use the same image for severals moods and the inherit box is checked).

Include navigation options after adding an interest

Area:
interests

Summary:
What it says on the tin: add navigation options to the "Interest Added" confirmation page.

Description:
At the moment, when you add an interest by clicking on the "would you like to be added to this list" link from an interest's page, you see the message:

Interests
Added.

The interest has been added to your list.

I think there should also be a couple of "What would you like to do next?" options on that page. Those options could include viewing your profile, editing your profile, and a link to the interests page.

Title:
Make Stylesheet Text Box Larger

Area:
styles

Summary:
http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/options?group=customcss

The custom style sheet box would be much easier to write complex css in if it was wider. It's aligned to match up to the checkbox and textarea above, but it just looks like it is wasting space. There are many times when I feel like having to wrap my CSS around on several lines makes it harder for me to work in that box when I want to adjust things.

Description:
(See Summary)

It'd be exponentially helpful if it was as wide as the area the textbox sits in.

Bonus Suggestion:
"Use embedded CSS
If you'd like to add custom CSS to this style, enter it here."

That phrase should probably be aligned to the top of that box so that it's not placed below the large text box.

Title:
Give a list of journal styles a user has used

Area:
account management, styles

Summary:
Say you want to change your journal style to a really cool style you used a while ago... and now you have no idea what the style was called. Wouldn't it be great to be able to see a list of styles you've used in the past?

Description:
This hasn't been an issue for me on Dreamwidth yet, but I bet it's only a matter of time (I just ran into it on LiveJournal). Say you want to change your journal style to a really cool style you used a while ago... and now you have no idea what the style was called. Wouldn't it be great to be able to see a list of styles you've used in the past, so you don't have to page through all the styles and try to remember exactly what it looked like?

This could be a link called "[user name]'s Theme History" from the "[user name]'s Current Theme" box on the Select Journal Style page. The link would go to a page with a list of styles that have been used on that journal before. (It would be extra cool if each style named on that page included a link to the style, but even just the name would be helpful.)

Possible drawbacks: one more thing for Dreamwidth to keep track of. Also, when Dreamwidth starts getting more custom styles created by users for other users (modifications on site styles), I'm guessing this list I'm proposing would only be able to display the name of the site style that was the base for the custom style.

(P.S. I am confused about the difference between styles and journal themes, so if I've misused either term that's probably why.)
