Title:
Add "feed moved" info to feed accounts.

Area:
feeds

Summary:
Add information to the profile of feed accounts on what to do if the feed has moved.

Description:
It seems like one of the ongoing themes both here and on LJ is "please don't create another account if the feed for site X has moved, please just let support know and they can fix it" - so it seems like it would be useful if that information was somewhere on each feed account. The profile seems likely. It could say something like:

"If this account is not updating because the feed URL has changed at the original site, please let support know and give them the new URL. They can update the account to work again."

In that, feed URL would link to the known URL, "original site" would link to the site, and support of course would link to support.

(It would be even cooler if you could just smack a link and plug in the new URL but, honestly, the extra development work and additional page to maintain probably isn't worth it in this case.)

Title:
Option to force default icon when viewing "my style"

Area:
styles, usability, reading

Summary:
I would like to be able to choose only to see other users' default icons when I load a page in my style.

Description:
I find the many different icons some users post and comment with very confusing and distracting. I keep having to double check who is who, and sometimes think one user is another if they use a similar icon.

I know I have the option to not show any icons and differentiate users by assigning them a color, but I prefer a calm black on white lay-out, and I don't think I would be able to distinguish the colors well enough to tell people apart anyway.

For me, consistent icons are the easiest way to recognize users, and it would make dreamwidth more accessible if there was an option to always show the default icon, or alternatively, to assign an icon to a user the way we're able to assign a color to a user now.

The good thing about forcing default icons is that users would have a say about how they represent themselves, and that it would probably be relatively simple to code. The minor draw back is that a few users might change their default icon so often that they remain difficult for very visually oriented users to identify.

Assigning an icon to a user in my style would be my preferred solution, all things being equal. I'd like to pick one of their personal icons that I feel that I can reliably recognize, the way that we now have the option to pick a color on the manage circle page. I would be happy to use one of my own icon slots for every icon I assigned, that way it wouldn't be a problem if they deleted their icons.

I'd be very happy with either solution.

Title:
add a link to the account settings page to the navbar

Area:
navigation bar

Summary:
The navigation bar should have a link to the Account Settings page.

Description:
Most of the time, the only Dreamwidth page I have open is my dreamroll. This means that pretty much any time I want to tinker with my Dreamwidth settings, I have to bring up a site-schemed page to get to the Account Settings page, which is annoying extra step.

And given how often people hear about new settings from the people they read, it would make sense to make the settings page accessible from the navigation strip. Especially since at this time, navstrip displays only non-site-scheme pages that therefore all require that annoying extra step of bring up a site-schemed page before you can get to Account Settings.

The only real downside I can see here is that it might clutter up the navbar unnecessarily for people who don't use Dreamwidth similarly.

suggestion about crossposting from communities

Area:
crossposting

Summary:
If someone is not using crossposting from their personal journal, allow them to use crossposting with one of the communities they run.

Description:
If someone is not using crossposting from their personal journal, allow them to use crossposting with one of the communities they run. I know I personally would like to crosspost from my dw community to a community on lj, but I have no need to crosspost from my personal journal. This choice would be a great help to many people I believe.
