Title:
Subscribe to your own poll votes

Area:
polls, subscriptions, my fully documented life

Summary:
Create a subscription that will notify you when you have voted in a poll. The notification should contain the name of the poll, the questions and your answers to them, and a link to the discussion, possibly even including the current title of that entry (especially in the case of dw_suggestions polls, which are not named distinctively).

Description:
This might be considered a parallel feature to subscription to one's own comments.

Possible refinements to the poll functions are still being explored, and tracking one's own participation in them is one dimension that hasn't come up much. Sometimes one's thoughts change over time and one might like to re-visit a poll if it is still open, or might like to see what the current voting looks like. When circle members use polls to control opt-in/out access filters, it could be really useful to have an easier way of tracking that poll down than bookmarking it or depending on their tagging.

Depending on how expensive this feature is to offer, it could be a paid feature, or perhaps inclusion of the full questions and answers could be a paid feature.

Title:
Administrators: Subscribe to community poll votes

Area:
subscriptions, polls, community administration

Summary:
Allow community administrators to subscribe to all, all administrator-created, or specific arbitrary polls within their community, just as if they had created the poll themselves.

Description:
Sometimes community administration requires staying on top of some issue or other, and sometimes that issue involves a poll. Sometimes vigorous refreshing of the poll votes page is just not efficient.

An all-poll subscription would mirror the all-comments subscription, and allow the administrator to get a more clear picture of activity in the community, albeit possibly a very high-volume one.

All administrator-created polls would likely be a little more difficult to implement, and might not catch older polls created by administrators, or polls created by people who were admins at the time but who are not now, but could be useful for situations where multiple people need to monitor the poll, but only one person can post it, or when a new administrator takes over but would like to continue using the previous admin's poll.

Specific polls would let the administrator pick and choose which polls are important to monitor. This might be easier to implement than an all-administrator-created-polls subscription, and serve many of the same important functions.

Title:
Allow subscriptions to (certain) polls that are not your own

Area:
polls, subscriptions, interaction makes the world go 'round

Summary:
With the poll creator and/or community administrator's permission, allow subscriptions to other people's votes in polls.

Description:
With the specific or blanket permission of the journal owner/poll creator/community administrators (and discussion on how the process of granting/revoking permission should go is very welcome, because it's a bit fuzzy in my mind) users should be able to subscribe to poll votes on any permitted poll, and get notifications about votes, customized to their particular level of permission to see the votes in that poll.

Polls where the subscribing user can see answers should give the username of the person voting and a link to the poll similar to what the owner gets (plus a quick unsubscribe link in case it becomes too high-volume).

Polls where the identities of the voters are not viewable to the subscribing user, the notification should merely say that there was a new or changed vote in the poll, with a link (and an unsubscribe link).

Since in some cases the "can view" is dependent on access, permission would have to be checked every time.

Title:
Subscriptions to poll closing/re-opening

Area:
polls, subscriptions, interaction makes the world go 'round

Summary:
A subscription to the closing or re-opening of a poll would allow a user to see the final results of a poll, or to go see what happens if more votes are allowed on a poll that was previously closed.

Description:
Subscriptions to individual poll votes would get very noisy very fast and also possibly have privacy implications; sometimes one just wants a reminder to go check back once the poll has closed. That is where this subscription would come in. Since it's likely that one would want to know if the poll opened again, the subscription would be for changes in closed/open state, so it would also work if the poll was opened some time later, unless the subscription was removed.

I do not personally see any deep privacy implications for this sort of subscription provided that the user can see the entry that the poll is in; I would particularly like to hear any concerns on that front, in case I am missing something.
