Title:
Tag autocomplete based on any part of a word

Area:
tags

Summary:
If autocomplete worked like the Firefox navbar that would be great.

Description:
In order to organise my tags, I have to use prefixes, but that makes it a pain when it comes to autocomplete. Autocomplete should work like Firefox's navbar, where you type in any part of the word and it comes in. So for my tag "manga:!weekly jump", I could type in "jump" or "week" (or parts of those words) rather than having to type "manga:!w".

Title:
automatic reciprocation

Area:
manage circle

Summary:
Offer the option for automatic reciprocation of subscribe/unsubscribe, and a second option for automatic reciprocation of access/unaccess.

Description:
I have a policy of automatic reciprocation, but if I fall behind in tracking who has subscribed or unsubscribed, this means I have to slog through the headache-inducing design that is the Manage Circle page, all to figure out where I've fallen short. My preference is very straight-forward and simple, but it makes managing my circle into a time-sink. It'd be a huge time-saver to be able to just flip a switch so whatever someone opts to do with my journal, I then automatically reciprocate.

As for automatic reciprocation on someone you don't want to subscribe in return to... I see that as up to the person choosing to make those exceptions. Either ban the journal you don't want to read, or read your circle via a filtered list, and filter off the person in question.

If the notion of automatically reciprocating on anyone/everyone who subscribes to you strikes you as anathema, then this option probably isn't one you'd ever find a use for, anyway. But for those of us who practice reciprocation, it would really streamline a lot of the hassle in managing our circles.

Block selected userpics

Area:
userpics

Summary:
choose not to see a particular userpic

Description:
This would allow you to block your friend's icon of the cat with the creepy eyes and the human teeth, or the sexist icon by that guy who always hangs out on that community that you would otherwise like to hang out on yourself. I imagine it working a little like adding a note about a user.

Of course, you could just use AdBlock, but some people don't use AdBlock, or use browsers that don't have it.

Title:
Allow community administrators to date out of order

Area:
communities

Summary:
It would be great if community admins could date posts out of order.

Description:
There's currently no way to date posts out of order in communities. Most of the time, this is a good thing -- it means that community administrators can be sure that posts were made before a deadline, for example. But sometimes, when I'm doing community admin, it's a pain.

Some examples of places I might want to date out-of-order:
- If I want to put up a sticky that contains the basics for new members, I'd have to post that to the whole community first with a disclaimer on it "this is for new users".
- If I want to put up a new FAQ or admin post that not everyone needs to read, so that I can link to it from a recent rules post without making the current post overlong.
- If I have a community that contains fiction in chapters, photo sets, or anything else that comes in a series, and I accidentally skipped a post, I'd have to delete all the most recent posts and redo everything to get the series back in order.

Mostly, I was thinking this would be a useful tool for people who want to write new community rules/tagging guidelines/etc without creating a ton of new posts and flooding the community, but perhaps there are other uses too?

There could be problems if community admin posts were posted later and out of order ("I never saw the rules!"); if so, perhaps out of order posts could have a tag like the one on edited comments that says "this post dated out of order at user's current local time" or something?

Title:
Search for several interests at once

Area:
Search

Summary:
The interest search should be capable of searching for more than one interest at a time. For example, "slash, icons" should return users and communities interested in both "slash" and "icons".

Description:
This is something that I've needed and wanted for years on that Other Blogging Platform, and never got implemented.

Problem: As the DW community grows, and there are more and more communities and users, searching for an interest could return hundreds of results - very hard to go through them and find what you really wanted.

Often the desired results really lie at the intersection of two popular interests, but there's no way to restrict it like that.

Solution: searching by "interest 1, interest 2" should return communities and users who list both "interest 1" and "interest 2".

Alternatively, there could be an option to "Search within these results" after the initial search for "interest 1".

Of course, a full boolean interest search would be the niftiest thing ever, but my suggestion is just a simple additive search for now.

Problems: there could be database problems that I'm not aware of (databases are not my best area of expertise), but unless it would really crash the site and there's no way to optimise it I don't think there should be any drawbacks.

Title:
Incorporate "auto-cut entries over N characters on my reading page" in S2

Area:
styles, usability, reader-centric reading page

Summary:
exor674 made a nifty thing for personal use that other people might like too. The "auto-cut entries over N visible characters on my reading page" feature should be adopted as an option for all styles!

Description:
This would be an option aimed at users who do not want to have long entries displayed on their reading page, and pretty much invisible to other users, including people who write long entries.

This feature has already been created for exor674's personal use, so it would likely be of negligible development time to implement for all users who want it.

This feature operates on the display of a user's reading page, detecting entries that have more than a certain number (in exor674's implementation, it is more than 4500) of visible (outside of a cut) characters. (An uncut entry of 4501 characters would be affected; an entry of 100,000 total characters with 4500 or fewer characters outside the cut would be displayed normally.) Once it has detected a large entry, instead of displaying the entry as written by the author, it displays it as ( Entry auto-cut, over 4500 characters ) on the reader's reading page only. (It does not edit the actual entry, nor alter the display on the creator's journal or the reading pages of other users.) This happens before the page is delivered to the browser, making it more suitable for mobile devices.
