Allow iframes for google maps embedding

Title:
Allow iframes for google maps embedding

Area:
posting

Summary:
Google Maps should be allowed to use iframes for embedding

Description:
I've noticed that YouTube iframe embeds are allowed. As this functionality exists, it should be extended to Google Maps as well.

I marked 'I have no opinion' but I am somewhat wary of this, as a map that takes over the full display width (say, after I've zoomed and scrolled) can render the page unusable on my phone. Google maps steal the input, and then I can't scroll the page. It's fine on a computer, just...awkward on the phone. YouTube videos don't have the same effect since they only recognize a click (tap), not a drag.

This would be my 'with changes'--make sure it works on mobile devices that our users use as it might really mess up a touchscreen experience.

But it's a feature I'd both use and like (hell, I'd post a map right now if I could, Google're doing a good job of tracking where the rioting is in London)

I wonder if it could just detect a mobile browser type, and render a full-sized placeholder for the map that you could tap once to activate it. If I realized it was filling my screen, I could zoom out and tap (thus retaining the ability to continue scrolling down after viewing the map)....

Not sure that's the right solution, just a thought that occurred to me.

FWIW, I believe that it's already on the list as per http://dw-volunteers.dreamwidth.org/11204.html
