Instant Feedback Button

Title:
Instant Feedback Button

Area:
Posts

Summary:
Similar to the Facebook 'like' button, have a 'favorite' button, kudos, etc. Some sort of button, where if a person likes an entry but doesn't want to comment, they can leave some sort of feedback.

Description:
As somewhat of an author, it's frustrating when one doesn't get reviews. I may not get reviews but I do see when people favorite one of my stories on another site. That site keeps track of how many have favorite your work. Since many authors might be coming here, I think having some kind of like/favorite/kudos button would be great. Fanfiction.net and DeviantArt.com have similar options.

What do you think of the '+1' LJ has been putting onto some of their official comms recently? I would link to one, but the DDOS means I can't even get there to find the URL, the headerimage comp one uses it.

I don't know how it works, and have no idea if it's a JS hack or something they've done in S2, but if it is a Styles things, maybe we could put in an optional module for it for those that want this sort of thing?

I've found one. I don't see really see any difference except that it seems to me it's more meaningless than the word 'like'.

To you, perhaps, but to a lot of people (eg)...

I'm actually looking at playing with Gmail to see if I can filter comments like this straight to archive, some people simply like a reinforcing comment, etc.

There is, therefore, demand, and to an extent it'd help other things, including those of us that don't like getting "+1" replies, as it can be dealt with in a different way.

Oh +1 in itself isn't meaningless. I've typed that myself. Many times actually. :) I was talking about adding it at the bottom of all entries the way LJ's done it.

Oh, customisable to suit end user would possibly be good, I prefer a thumbs up myself, and that appears to be heading towards universal UI now.

And I don't want to ever stop replies to my comments, that to me is the principle strength of the way LJ and DW handle comments. And I don't actually resent when I get +1s, they serve a purpose, especially on a comm like this, but I'd like to not receive them as comments (maybe a daily digest or just to the DW inbox not email).

It seems the majority are hung up over the word 'like' but are okay with kudos

And there are the people who hate the kudos like whoa. So, make it opt-in or let me customize it and I'm happy, too. *g*
