Summary:
Flickr has no support for posting photos to Dreamwidth, even though they do post successfully to Livejournal. Can we encourage them to add Dreamwidth support?

Description:
Flickr has a feature that allows a user to post a photo from a Flickr photostream to blogs on Blogger, Livejournal, etc. Since they work well with LJ, it seems they ought to be able to work with Dreamwidth, but so far no luck. A query sent to their help staff just gets the response that they "do not support Dreamwidth." Can you perhaps encourage them to do so? Surely it wouldn't be that difficult for them.

IIRC, Support has made an effort to contact Flickr, since we thought the same as you, and we got the same non-response response. They did not make clear why they worked with LJ and not us, since we use very similar protocols.

an option might be to get a petition together from dreamwidth users, maybe, but in all likelihood, they'll need to be somewhat flooded with response to respond

Well, Flickr has been bugging me to "upgrade" to a paid account. When I told them I would do that when they support posting to Dreamwidth, they "escalated" my complaint to a higher level but told me it would take a while to get a response.

It looks to me as if the "error" they have in posting to Dreamwidth is just that they insist on changing the URL to livejournal.com before trying to post. Pretty dumb.

Anyway, I'd suggest contacting them again, with some numbers, like how many users you have and how fast you're growing. Point out that the software is LJ compatible and really should not require big changes at their end.

If I get another response from them with the name of an actual technical person, I'll forward it to here.
