Summary:
There are many sites you can add to your profile already so why not add Tumblr? It's a very popular site that many use.

Description:
This is a pretty easy thing to add. Just allow for tumblr to be added with the rest and it to link to the users tumblr on their profile.

Tumblr is very popular, especially for photo/picture blogging. It would make for easier following of friends tumblrs if they can be listed like the other sites via the profile.

I did check to make sure this wasn't already suggested so if it has and I missed it I apologise. :)

Tumblr is one of the sites you can link via DW and it has it's own user icon. < user name = yourname space site= tumblr.com >. I just use that to link my tumblr in my profile. vickyblueeyez

The suggestion is for adding it to the list of sites that you can add to your profile, though, not the user tag!

I know. I had figured since it was already a user tag, instead of adding it to the list in the profiles, users can simply post the user tag that will also link you to tumblr. :)

So you're saying it shouldn't be implemented because people can link it with the code? If that's the case then twitter shouldn't have been implemented either, or delicious (and you could really say that about anything listed there that can't be coded: etsy, ravelry, AIM because with a bit of html you can link anything).

It's convenient to be able to just fill your username for the site out on your profile and have it there and keep your main bio more simple.

Well twitter and the other sites could be easily linked too. I find it simple and easy to just use the DW code to link them in the profile. If DW adds every site, the profile imput field is going to be huge. This way lets you link all the sites without a huge edit profile page. So no, I my opinion is that it shouldn't be implemented.

If DW is going to add every site, livejournal, deadjounal, tumblr, insanejournal, pinboard, facebook, ao3, ff.net and deviantart might as well be added too since using the DW code is so difficult.

Is the sarcasm really necessary? I never said it was too hard. I said if that's the case you're arguing then all of them should be removed because, even if you don't use the DW code, you can still link it with a bit of easy to use HTML right? That's basically what you're saying. I don't know where you got that I was saying it's too hard to use the code. :)

Maybe you should make a suggestion about the input field getting too big then? If it got too big or cumbersome I'm sure they'd think of a better way of dealing with it. A separate page to edit it like with the email perhaps?

Anyway, Tumblr was suggested (like plurk) because it's a very popular site. I'm not requesting DW to add every site (again, I don't know where you got that from), I just mentioned Tumblr because I and many others use it and thought it would be nice to have it there. But it's nice to hear other opinions and I understand why you'd prefer to use the code, but I and a lot of others prefer to have it listed elsewhere.

We do have a bug open to make it so that people can input their own choices for the other sites bit, which will mean that we won't have to add new options for everything that people want to link.

I was going to make a suggestion about adding fanfiction.net as a user tagged site. Would you like me to make an official dw suggestion for it? I don't want to clog the DW profile page by having a field for every popular site I want linked, like livejournal, insanejournal, facebook, and fanfiction.net which aren't options. It's eventually going to get huge with everyone wanting certain sites added. That is why I don't mind linking various sites via the DW user tag feature. That's just me though. I'm not forcing this on anyone and I feel that the OP is upset that I voted for this to not be implemented.

I'm not upset. I was just trying to explain that the reason you gave could be done with everything that was there in the beginning, and then I thought you were being sarcastic with the "if it's so hard" comment. I'm a programmer and I've designed websites so having to use a bit of code isn't hard for me. :) Think we both just misunderstood each other.

I'm getting the impression that using the DW code is hard because this was suggested. After all, you can already link tumblr in your profile if you put in the code. Maybe there is some issue I don't know about which is why it's not used and this field is needed. No sarcasm intended.

I apologize, I thought it was sarcasm. You make a fair point though as sometimes I have to double take at the input field.
