Reply to comments without unscreening

Title:
Reply to comments without unscreening

Area:
comments

Summary:
Allow users to reply to screened comments without unscreening them.

Description:
This has been requested and mentioned in a lot of places, but I couldn't find it in Bugzilla.

Basically, change the default behaviour so that replying to a screened comment does not automatically unscreen it. You can then choose to unscreen it as well if you want. The person you're replying to should be able to see and/or get a notification of your reply.

I'd rather unscreening be a toggle as you post the comment, instead of a separate step.

Also, it's not clear whether you're proposing that the reply post screened as well, or if it should post clear. I think we should probably have it "if you're leaving the comment to which you reply screened, your reply is screened. If you're unscreening the comment to which you replied, your reply is public."

I like this option, but the original would also work.

I think the reason they didn't allow this on LJ was to stop one-to-one conversations, though I wouldn't know why that was considered a bad thing.

And yes, implement with a toggle.

Another vote for implement with toggle.

I like this.

One reason I screen comments is to let people leave contact information, or say "yes, please, me" if I'm organising something or have something to give away. It would be nice to be able to say "got your message" without making the person's contact info visible.

Oh my God, I would love this feature to be implemented.

I like this! Being able to say "got your address" without revealing the post = win.

My "with changes" -- would this be suitable for a Paid User feature?

i went through the suggestions just to see if this one has already been made. yes, yes, yes. i hate having to unscreen things i've promised to keep screened in order to reply, even if just for several seconds.
