Bring back mouse-over userpic key words

Title:
Bring back mouse-over userpic key words

Area:
Comments

Summary:
I used to be able to mouse over a userpic in an entry and comments (in default comment layout) and see its key word(s). Now we get the options that also show up when one mouses over a userhead so functionality has been lost.

I'd like to be able to see userpic key words again, especially since I can get the options shown now by mousing over a person's userhead.

For now, if it's important for you to have that info, turn off beta testing. If it's not important for you to have it right now, don't sweat it; that info will be added to the beta test version (it's an ongoing cleanup thing).

I'm not sure I'm following you.

This is what I see when I hover my mouse over your userpic:

I get both the hover menu and keyword.

I get only the keywords, not the hover menu. That I only get with the userhead.

I only get the hover menu from the userhead as well.

I'm on Windows 7 64bit SP1 and running Firefox 7.0.1 - what are you on?

Odd. I'm running what you're running, and I get the grey box and hover menu. How strange! =/

you get the gray box from the userhead hover?

Ah, let me clarify. XD

I get the grey box and the hover menu from hovering over the user pic. I get only the hover menu from hovering over the little grey person figure next to your name. :)

Firefox 7 on Ubuntu. When I tried Epiphany as browser it shows me both keywords and hover menu.

I have a Firefox extension that forces display of alt text on mouseover; keyword is in alt text.

If you're on beta testing, you won't see the keywords at all, so keep that in mind.

Hah, thank you! Yes, that's why I wasn't seeing the keyword hover along with the userinfo hover. I'd forgotten I had the beta on, in fact.

I'm pretty confused by this suggestion.
A. Hover menu in account settings is on "nothing". When I hover over an icon, I get "username: (keyword)".
B. Hover menu in account settings is on "both". Hover menu, no keywords on icons. (Hover menu, with keywords when beta testing is off.)
C. Hover menu in account settings is on "userhead graphic". Hover menu on userhead, keywords on icons.
D. Hover menu in account settings is on "icons". Hover menu on icons, no keywords. (Hover menu with keywords when beta testing is off.)

There's already multiple ways to see keywords. OP, what setting do you have under "hover menu" here (http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/settings/?cat=display)?

Turns out that it might be a prblem with the JQuery beta testing, and I accidentally let it through! So, this suggestion might not apply.

Ahahaha, indeed. That could do it. I had to go check if I had beta on so I could try to reproduce what was happening. (And see what the differences were! I never use the hover menu at all, so that was an interesting experiment.)

I don't get any easy way to see alt text/keywords even when I have beta testing off! I realize this is because I insist on using a non-standard browser, but I've wished for awhile that there was a built-in way to see icon text that didn't depend on the browser.

I'm confused. When i mouse over your icon in this post, i get a tooltip that says "vilakins: (default)". Isn't that the behaviour you're saying ought to be implemented?

We worked out the problem -- I thought this was a bug report (ie, that we'd broken stuff); turns out that it's only broken in the new jQuery javascript beta.
