Just as a note, for adding new sites to the <user> tag, we need to know:

-- Given a user 'username', what would the URL be to get to 'username''s main content page? (The equivalent of http://username.dreamwidth.org.)

-- Given a user 'username', what would be the URL to get to the closest equivalent of the profile? (The equivalent of http://username.dreamwidth.org/profile)

In a site tag username, the former is used for what 'username' links to, and the latter is used for what the little person icon links to.

(It also helps if you provide a link to whatever logo the site uses to ID itself, like the little swirl for DW, but that's less critical.)

Is a youtube account not the same as a Google+ account these days? (I've no idea whether we support G+ accounts, but possibly these things go together!)

It is, and it isn't. You can still use an old YouTube account to upload and Like videos and do other YouTube-ish things. It's only commenting that requires a Google+ account now (or a Google+ Page to use an old YouTube username that you don't want to change to your Google+ name).

I don't think YouTube has a little person icon.

Google+ is much more difficult, because the account ID is a number, not the username...except that you can get a vanity url based on your username if you want it. (I don't; they won't let me have my standard userid, and my name just offers too many misspellings). E.g. the link to my G+ is https://plus.google.com/u/0/107323706968681482996, which displays as +Sallie Alys Montuori (unless and until I change my display name there, which is fairly easy to do; I've done it several times over the years).

Yes, we looked into it and there's pretty much no way we can do automated G+ linking, since there's no real meaningful concept of a "username" there.
