Add Facebook to the username=C sitename=facebook.com

IGNORE THIS THREAD! As pointed out by [personal profile] swaldman it's identical to the thread here:
http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/1376864.html

Title:
Add Facebook to the username=C sitename=facebook.com

Area:
Entries

Summary:
In fact, entering the text in my entry does show a FB specific userhead, but clicking it 404s (and I double checked the link). Since FaceBook is so vast, I think it makes DW seem more interoperable with support for this feature.

Description:
Short paragraph says it all.

I'm not sure I understand. If the userhead already comes up, then doesn't that mean this had already been done? As for the 404, that just means that particular page/profile is no longer available on FB, not that the function in DW isn't there. Right?

*confused*

Facebook has not been added yet. User name links specifying Facebook right now use the default offsite link userhead, which is a grey head and shoulders and a few little gold links of chain. Any site can be plugged into the offsite username format, and it will link to that site/users/username/profile on the head, and that site/users/username for the name. Those locations are common for social media user locations, but not universal.

Sites that have been specifically added will use the user symbol or favicon for the remote site, and will link to that site's actual profile and user areas (if different than default).

Does Facebook actually have usernames the way other sites do?

It does, but they're not required the last I knew (all Facebook personal accounts have a user ID *number*, but usernames were an opt-in added on years after the fact). IIRC, that was historically why we didn't have <user name=$username site=facebook.com> for Dreamwidth.

I think they're automatic now. I noticed last time I was on Facebook that I have a username now, and I know for a fact that I never chose one.

Hmmm, I'm not sure, there are a lot of public Pages on Facebook, some companies have their primary presence there.

Pretty sure this is the same suggestion as http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/1376864.html

Well, when I tried to find it I searched for "facebook", and got no hits. So meh ;-)
