Prevent OpenID from cluttering up the Subscribers list

Title:
Prevent OpenID from cluttering up the Subscribers list

Area:
profile

Summary:
OpenIDs should be separated from the rest of the usernames and start on a new line in Subscribers just as in Gives Access To.

Description:
I love having the OpenIDs in a block all by themselves underneath the rest of the usernames in Gives Access To. It makes looking through the list so much easier. Suprisingly enough (to me at least) the same wasn't done for the Subscriber list. In my experience the Subscribers list can often be even more in need of de-cluttering than the Gives Access To list. So I suggest that the same separation between DW usernames and OpenIDs that's been done for Gives Access To should also be done for the Subscribers list.

I don't get what 'tidying' could be done. The subscribers list are the people who have subscribed to you, so you can't do much to control who's on it, anyway.

See my note - under access all the open id's are in a separate (but included) list so the site name doesn't repeat...but the gui for it is, IMO, a wee bit muddy. :|

I have "granted access to" a lot of open id's just because I imported from LJ, though. But they're not subscribed to me. If an open id adds me, that's an account that's actually reading me - someone had to take an action. (Not that anyone's using open id to read this account at the moment.)

Looking at your profile, I can see better. The ".livejournal.com" has to be repeated for every open id in subscribers, while grouping them in "access" allows the site to be given just once.

Unfortunately, now that I've seen that, I really don't like this suggestion...because when I looked at my profile, I freaked out because I was missing the name in front of the one open id account, it just said livejournal.com. It took me a good several seconds to figure out that that was, in fact, showing that every name in the following list was a livejournal.com open id - and had I not first read your suggestion, I would NOT have figured it out that quickly, if at all!

So, I agree, something would be good, but the existing gui is not clear. :(

I didn't know this had been changed until I read this. I agree; while the old display was messy, this one is not immediately intuitive about showing which ones are openid.

I definitely want to be able to more easily see who's coming from where on both Access and Subscriber lists, and I hadn't realized there was a breakdown for Access. I agree with [personal profile] kyrielle that it needs to be made more clear, though, for both.

Maybe something as simple as slightly more separation between each subsection? Right now, on my profile, the Gives Access To section is like:

All The DW Users, All The DW Users, All The DW Users, All The DW Users
LJ: All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users
Not DW/LJ: Somebody who's not DW or LJ

I'd like to see something more like:

All The DW Users, All The DW Users, All The DW Users, All The DW Users, All The DW Users

LJ: All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users, All The LJ Users

Other: Somebody who's not DW or LJ

Ooh, and maybe those labels could even be "From Dreamwidth," "From LiveJournal," "From WordPress," "[From] Other," etc, just to make things more clear on a language vector as well.
