Make font, header tags effective in entries posted in basic site schemes

Title:
Make font, header tags effective in entries posted in basic site schemes

Area:
Entry formatting

Summary:
In Tropospherical Red and Tropospherical Purple, header tags (h1, h2, etcetera) and <font size="x"> have no effect on the size of text. (Header tags make it bold, but that's it.) In Celerity, header tags work but font tags don't. I'd like that to change.

Description:
There's not a whole lot to add to the summary. Say you have a few entries that are broken up into subsections, or where you just want to mess with the font size for stylistic reasons. (Font color can still be changed, which is nice; I haven't tested other attributes.) But you like the clean look of entries posted in the default site schemes (my favorite is Tropospherical Purple), rather than your custom journal style. Having font tags that are effective in these schemes would really come in handy.

(ETA: Have tried <span style="font-size: 20"> on both an entry and my profile, with no effect there either.)

The font tag is deprecated - I'd recommend you use CSS instead, e.g. [h1 style="font-size:x"] or [span style="font-size:x"]. I think disabling the font tag was deliberate. However, the behaviour of header tags should be consistent across different site schemes, so I'd support fixing that.

Yes, and is there an FAQ telling people how to do it, so they don't use the font tag?

I've added a FAQ suggestion about it. However, font tags being deprecated is true on the wider internet, rather than just Dreamwidth, and the FAQ editors have previously said they're not keen on writing a complete guide to HTML or CSS, given that such things already exist elsewhere on the internet, and are not Dreamwidth-specific.

This drives me crazy. I never manage to remember it and then it takes me ages to work out why it isn't working.

If CSS isn't working, that's probably worth raising as a Support request, since that sounds like a bug to me.

By "with changes", I mean that I support consistency across page styles, whether or not DW supports (some) deprecated tags.

And by "page styles", I mean "Site schemes". Durr...

But people are use to the font tag, will grab it from habit, and don't forget the import function. Now I have to go remove font from all imported entries, or they don't look like I intended? Ick!

Hmm. It looks like the font tag is still meant to be supported on Dreamwidth, despite being deprecated. There's a known issue for profiles, but it should be fine in entries, I think.

Tag support should definitely be made consistent from one site scheme to the next, but otherwise I have no opinion.
