Add "Memories" link to default beige sidebar

Title:
Add "Memories" link to default beige sidebar

Area:
Navigation via sidebar

Summary:
Add a Memories link to the sidebar that is... Well, I presume it's the default style for reading comments, or looking at random pages. It's beige.

Description:
I often want to make a comment that includes a link to something I found Memorable. With LJ, I use the Dystopian style, scroll up the page, open my Memories link in a new tab, and navigate to the memorable post in question.

With DW, I search the beige sidebar in vain! I remember the link's not there, remember where it *is*, open a tab, type in enough of the URL to auto-complete to my journal page, then click the Memories link, etc.

Could a link to Memories be put somewhere next to Tags, under the Read sidebar-header?

(I honestly do not know if the beige sidebar belongs to a given style; it hasn't changed when I swapped my other styles around, so I presume it's the default. And I don't think anything else in the customize styles page is affecting it.)

I honestly don't know what you mean by 'beige sidebar'. Can you provide a screenshot of what you mean?

Not the OP, but maybe the sidebar from Celerity?

Oh! That would make sense, with the commentary about the 'read' header. Gotcha. (I just don't think of that readily, since I use a different sitescheme.)

The reason that we didn't put memories into that menu item, by the way, is because the memories system as is is ... really bad. I've been intending to stick it into the Read menu once we redo it.

I agree with this course of action.

That sounds good.

That certainly seems the best place for it.

I do the same thing that [personal profile] archangelbeth does - "okay, here's where it is in Dystopia, nope, not there, not on the menu at all, oh right it's in the profile" - so it'd be nice if it were easier to find. On the other hand I can definitely understand not wanting people to get used to using something that's going to be torn out and redone if they're not already used to it...

*nods* It's why I have links to many of the common site pages on many of my accounts.

There isn't, although it's something we've vaguely tossed around the idea of adding.

Actually, an extra menu you could customise would be useful in Tropospherical as well. Do suggest it.

My Read menu already looks too long - another item I don't use would make it even harder to find the things I do need.

Huh. I don't have a beige sidebar (different site scheme I assume) but I find the drop down "Read" Menu in the Tropo scheme already fairly long, like the commenter above. My journal itself has a link to my memories though, so I find it easy to get to them just from my flist page, which is my main page when I read and interact on DW anyway. I mean that if I want to reply to someone with a memorized post I likely come from my flist before I open the comment link in another tab. I always use that link on LJ as well to get to the memories, not any link in the site menu.
