editprivacy recognizes custom groups
Title:
editprivacy recognizes custom groups
Area:
entries
Summary:
http://www.dreamwidth.org/editprivacy can only recognize posts that are public, locked to your entire access list, or private. If you want to change the security of posts made to a filter, you have to go through and find them by hand.
The tool should recognize custom groups. Alternatively, it should give you an option to change every post at once.
Description:
The edit privacy tool would be far more effective it could change entries that were filtered to particular groups, ideally to other groups as well as to private/public/access list.
This was discussed a couple of years ago on LJ: http://community.livejournal.com/suggestions/730600.html Apparently because posts can be filtered to more than one group, it would be difficult to code.
I know nothing of code, so it might not be an improvement to suggest that if any post is multiply-filtered, the most restrictive setting takes precedence (that is, a post with two filters and one filter is set to public or friends stays filtered to the other group, but one filter is set to private and the post goes private).
Alternatively, the suggestion that everything gets changed regardless of its status would be a decent fallback.
