Allowing scrollable entry boxes compatable with iPad's version of Safari to make it easier to edit.

Description:
The iPad version of Safari does not permit scrolling in the entry boxes (like what I am typing in now), which makes it quite difficult to read through and edit entries that are longer than one "box worth" of information. This holds true for the original entry prior to posting, as well as attempting to edit a pre-existing entry. As there are no scrolling arrows on the iPad keyboard (only the Bluetooth accessory), you cannot simply use those within the entry box to get back up to an earlier part of the entry.

LJ has the same issue, but has an iPad compatable app which you can use instead. Understandably so, it does not crossover to any other journal site so you can only use it for LJ and not DW, which I much prefer to use.

Is there any sort of coding fix to allow this (likely a frames-related issue), or possibly a DW app in the works?

I'm not having trouble scrolling a long entry box in Safari on my iPad (although the scrolling motion is a little jerky). Perhaps this is something which was fixed in the browser in iOS 5...?

ETA: Yeah, I just did some googling and it looks like the newest versions of Safari made a lot of fixes to scrolling areas.

You are correct! I tried it after the update (the original post was submitted back at the beginning of September) and there is (finally) the ability to scroll. Jerky, but far better than before!

My no vote is because this appears to be a browser bug in Safari, and while I'm happy for us to code workarounds for known issues in browsers if we've no choice, but if the devs of the browser have already fixed it I think we should urge an update.

If it's not a browser bug then it could be revisited (and an app would make sense anyway if someone wants to code it).

When I first submitted the post/suggestion, they had not yet released any iOS update. Since the recent update, I tried again and was able to scroll. It's jumpy like the person above mentioned, and far from perfect, but it is 1000x better than previously so I'm fine with taking it and running with it.

That said, a DW app would be awesome. The Android ElJay app allows you to log in to either LJ or DW depending on your settings, but there does not appear to be any iPod/iPad version as of yet.

I thought that the Summer of Code was going to lead to an app? At least, that had been discussed beforehand - we can haz update on that?
