Polls: display results on the same page

Title:
Polls: display results on the same page

Area:
polls

Summary:
When clicking on 'see results' in a poll you haven't voted on you're brought to a new page; I'd like the results to be shown in the entry instead.

Description:
Apart from the AJAXification which is great in itself, one of the reasons I'd like this is that I often vote on a poll here in dw_suggestions because of this, not because I really wanted to vote on it (this is the case for my own suggestions or suggestions I don't have an opinion on for instance).

Poll #7864 Polls: display results on the same page
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 54

Hrm. But that might lead to cascading poll effect. People are influenced to vote along with existing results if they can already see existing results. I don't think that making it convenient to see the results without voting is a good idea, perhaps. Don't feel that strongly about it, but I think there's good reasons to hide poll results unless you've voted.

Actually, you were clear, I wasn't. :-)

I mean that I prefer that it's more convenient to vote (including "no opinion") than it is to display results then vote.

I concur, it's why I really dislike the way polls auto display results to logged out users, I'd really like for there to be a 'login and vote' button instead, but I don't recall if I ever suggested that.

I want to make everything as userfriendly as possible, so this should be implemented, but perhaps with some consideration of how it would affect this.

Heh, you're always looking through this comm, but thanks-i should've remembered you can filter by user while search was down.

But in many cases - this community not being one of them - I will see on my reading page or network page a poll that does not apply to me. I have no reason or ability to answer it. But I am curious about the results.

It really bugs me that I can't load it in-line.

Conversely, if someone really wants to know before voting, they can now; it's just an extra page load.
