The addition of a 'master'-tickbox that would allow you to immediately (un)select/(un)check all tickboxes underneath it.

Description:
I apologize for not using the proper tech jargon.

Basically, what I would like is the DW inbox to have an additional tickbox (or an additional tickbox per category (My Account/People and Communities/Notification Tracking)) so that all items underneath "Notify me in my DW Inbox when:" and "Also notify me by Email" could be instantly selected/unselected by ticking that additional tickbox.

Right now, whenever I want to turn off tracking/notifications for a while (e.g. due to vacation/lack of internet-related reasons), I have to go and individually uncheck every tickbox for the journals and RSS feeds I'm tracking via the DW inbox. It's quite the hassle.

And when I want to turn everything back on again, I have to go and activate/check all those individual tickboxes AND uncheck all "Also notify me by Email", because they become automatically checked when I activate a subscription (even though I don't want/need all these notifications in my email inbox).

So yes, 'master'-tickboxes for both columns ("Notify me in my DW Inbox when:" and "Also notify me by Email") would be extremely appreciated.

There's already a per-category checkbox in the email column for http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/settings/?cat=notifications, but I'm not altogether sure what it does. (Only thing I know is it's not what the OP wants.) Will the UI be able to make it obvious which of the current and new does what? (Assuming they can't be merged.)

I would have have the select all on the other side but that may make little sense. Hmm.

It sounds to me like it might be a good idea to have a "Suspend notifications"/"Resume notifications" toggle button as part of the implementation of this suggestion.

But yes, having a master tickbox in each category to toggle everything on/off sounds useful to me too.
