Reporting spam in emailed comment notifications

Title:
Reporting spam in emailed comment notifications

Area:
Comment notifications

Summary:
Add "Delete the comment and report as spam" as an option in emailed comment notifications.

Description:
Emailed comment notifications have a list of options:

View all comments to this entry
Reply at the webpage
Delete the comment

It would be very convenient if "Delete the comment and report as spam" was also an option. I want to help DW by reporting spam, but it's annoying to have to do it by opening a whole new browser window, especially when I'm on a computer where I can get my email but not access DW.

But don't you have to confirm the delete anyway? IIRC you select the spam mark there, no? I don't want a link that would do the deletion (with our without spam marking) in a single step, because I click that one instead of the reply accidentally so often because the links are so close together. If a delete confirmation remains necessary I wouldn't be against having a combi option.

I am opposed to this being added to the plain text version of comment notifications (aka, the version I use). In that case, it's necessary to open a new browser window (or tab) anyway, and the only benefit is that the page would come with the "mark as spam" option pre-ticked. This is a tiny benefit, and not enough to overcome my reticence to having Yet Another link at the bottom of emails. The plain text versions can get somewhat confusing at times anyway, since they alternate link and description on following lines, and it isn't always immediately apparent whether a link matches the description that comes before it or after it. Adding extra options to the list will only worsen that problem.

So, I'm opposed to this being added to plain text notifications, and entirely indifferent when it comes to HTML notifications.

Hmm. The more links or URLs you have in an email, the more likely an email spam filtering system may flag the email itself as spam, esp. if the email payload (the comment) is indeed spam. If one of the links/URLs is "This is spam", how likely is it that someone will report the email as spam instead of the comment"? (Because they used their email service's own report-email-as-spam link/button instead of the one in the notification, perhaps out of habit?

I was going to say that LJ has it, but I'd be wrong having checked, I think the 'delete' link is enough given that goes to a 'mark this as spam' page anyway.
