Enlarged boxes on the Manage Icons page

Title:
Enlarged boxes on the Manage Icons page

Area:
icons

Summary:
Enlarging comment/description/keyword boxes on the Manage Icons page

Description:
I just realized, while updating my icons, that the boxes on this page have a set size, which isn't easy to use, because I can't see all my text/description.

Especially when you add the "username=blah, site=blahblah" script in the box.
It very annoying to have to use the arrow keys every damn time to rename/modify my 100+ icons so I can credit properly everybody.

Would it be possible to enlarge the boxes so we could see more of what we are writing?

I voted 'with changes' because the manage icons page can get pretty long as it is if you have a lot of icons. Making all the text boxes larger would just make that worse. I'd prefer it if we kept a more compact display for the icons by default, but, say, when you enter a text field to edit it, it dynamically expands to a larger size.

I think the OP means make them wider, so more of what's entered is visible. On my screen, at least (and I'm only talking 1280px here), you could make them a LOT wider without affecting anything else vertically.

Two thoughts have occured.

One, for those of us on small screens (I normally use either my netbook or my phone), this will be annoying.

Two, many browsers these days, including the most recent Firefox & Chrome, allow text boxes to be expanded at will, I'm pretty sure Safari-on-Mac does as Denise has mentioned in the past that she can do it (before I could in Fx).

So I don't think actively making the current boxes larger is a good plan, given user agents should be able to do it.

I didn't need to, it was just there when I upgraded, there's a little triangle of spots in the bottom right of my text input box (including this one) and I can make it as big as I like.

It may be some other setting you've got has turned it off, but pretty sure it's a built in feature--there's a small chance it's from an addon I've got that added it as a fature and I didn't notice I guess, I shall check.

Hmm, yes, you're right, I should've checked. I see no reason in the code that it shouldn't be there, but my knowledge of HTML forms is limited at best. My alternate is therefore to fix whatever issue stops the expander working on those forms but allows it on this one, if it's possible.

Weird.

I think it may be down to the type of text-insertion box it is, actually. You'll notice in the subject line for comments, there's no little expansion-dots, though in the message box, there is.

I would be all for changing the type of box to both make it a little larger (it bugs me too) and make it so it can be resized client-side, but not so large that it's a hardship for people with small screens.
