Link to all entries by a poster in a community

Title:
Link to all entries by a poster in a community

Area:
Community Journal Entries

Summary:
Have some kind of link to the page showing all entries by one poster in a community.

Description:
I sometimes use the very handy way to show all entries by one person to a specific community, for example:

http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/?poster=yvi

However, as of yet I haven't seen a way to access this other than typing this in myself. I would like some kind of solution to have this as a link - whether on the hover over a user's name in a community post or a separate link or a module for communities where you can put in a username and then get redirected to the right page.

Poll #6969 Link to all entries by a poster in a community

Holy wow, I did not know that could be done at all!

You can do it on LJ. They may even have implemented it first, not sure.

Yep, they implemented it first. I did the patch for DW based on LJ's implementation of it.

[edit: Sorry for the late reply, btw! This is getting fixed in Bugzilla now and I came to look at the associated suggestion. I didn't notice it was so old, sorry!]

Haha, that's ok. I was confused there for a second.

I don't have any useful suggestion as to how to implement it, but I'd be fine with any of those methods. If it was a module, I'd bet it would be up there with search and tags as my most-used in a community.

This would be awesome, especially for fic communities that use author tags.

I think it should be as a clear link within the post "posted by X in Y (other posts by X in Y)", and at the very least findable in S2 so people can configure it differently.

I'm actually going to work on that for one of my Comms anyway, and yes, I'd love to see some way of standardising it.

(I'd also like it to be commname/dw.org/author/username but that's a whole other suggestion, I think we should try to deprecate queries in URLs)

This would be an awesome addition. I'm not passionate about an implementation scheme, but a dropdown box might be nice. Then you could search for a particular person or see if there's a poster in the comm that you know for other places.

I like this idea, and I'm not particularly worried as to how it's implemented, so long as it's accessable with one click, somehow.

This is a good idea as far as it goes, but you need to be more specific about how it should be implemented. (I'm not sure how it could be done without cluttering things up. But if you or someone else can think of a way, I'm all for it.)

It'd be nice to have an index page on one's journal where you can see all the ways you can filter it (by year/month/day, security level, poster, tag, a combination of tags, type of account and god knows what I've forgotten) because it's getting very hard to remember all of these. So a big yes to the suggestion but I'd like to see that integrated into something larger.

That's a great idea! Can you make a top-level suggestion to do this? It's getting to the point where it's ridiculous how many options there are that only exist if you happen to remember the magic spell to type into URL arguments.

I'm thinking a module with a search-box: view all entries in this community by user: _____ [go] or similar. I think a drop-down menu could get ridiculous, because at first one might think you'd just use the members, but actually since people come and go, it implies indexing all the people who have posted entries to the community, and it would have to be looking out for deletions too, and I think that could get expensive. Additionally it could get very long, and that would not be fun to load on all the pages that have that module. So I think search box is the only sensible way to go.
