Override email time information on post-by-email
Title:
Override email time information on post-by-email
Area:
mobile posting
Summary:
Mobile posting via email from phones may result in incorrect time stamps on entries. It should be possible to override this.
Description:
Email from phones may just use UTC for its timestamp instead of actually indicating the time zone it's sending from. Dreamwidth currently uses this timestamp for entries posted by email, which creates entries with timestamps several hours off. In addition to showing an incorrect time on the entry in question, this can also cause problems with entry sequence and subsequent entries one attempts to post from a computer with the correct time zone needing to be dated out of order (or the date on the email entry edited) because their time stamps are earlier than the entry previously posted.
However, the email data includes information stating that it is using 0000 UTC, and it is possible to set one's time zone in one's account settings, so Dreamwidth could translate the UTC to the user's preferred time zone.
Alternately, it should be possible to add a manual override. It's currently possible to set many pieces of metadata in mobile posting using "post-tags" or "post-mood" etc. Could a "post-time" also be added?

From my support request - 8017:
I thumbed in a post on my Blackberry. When I posted, DW returned and invalid timestamp error, specifically in the hours category.
