Bullet points in cut tags?

Title:
Bullet points in cut tags?

Area:
entries

Summary:
Trying to put a cut tag on text that includes bullets breaks the formatting of the post really badly, this seems like it should be fixed

Description:
I wrote a post including a section with bullet points, then tried to cut tag most of the body of the post, including the bulleted section. Only the part above the bullets was actually behind a cut in the published post, there were extra broken html tags showing (</div>), and it took a lot of beating on it and hunting in the html for tags to delete (and turning off the bullets), and moving the </cut> tag to get the post to work correctly again.

ETA: Since I seem to have phrased this less clearly than I intended, what I tried to cut was formatted like this:

Blah blah wolf wolf.

  • One
  • Two
  • Three

Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.

The cut only took 'Blah blah wolf wolf.', and left a </cut> tag hanging out after 'wimey.'

ohhhhh, okay, gotcha. (I was wondering when I looked at this suggestion what was going on!)

Basically: the Rich Text Editor is totally broken. (Okay, not totally broken, but there's a lot of things it doesn't work well with, especially cut tags.) We have a bug open to replace it with a better version, but we haven't gotten a chance to complete the work yet.

I'll try that since the post I linked to I'm actually going to keep and dedicate to examining any such issues now and in the future. But it's happening on lists with no text interspersed, too. Do you have an already-live example I could see (I just want to check your mark-up to see what it is that seems to make things break before I go ahead and try it, but if you don't, no big deal).

Not wanting to wait for a reply (in a hurry tonight, sorry) I just went ahead and changed the post as you said, and yeah, it must be the rich text editor breaking that, since I'm not having a problem with the HTML editor's result. I'd still like to see the mark-up behind what you're seeing, though - I don't use rich text so I would like to see if I can see what's breaking the end-result on your end.
