confirm edited post with error

Title:
confirm edited post with error

Area:
communities

Summary:
If you edit a community post, and there's an error but the entry still posts, it should say that the post completed.

Description:
I just tried to edit a community entry, and got the error "Tags error: You are not allowed to create new tags for this journal; the entry was not tagged with [tag1, tag2]"

Since my edited entry had other new content apart from the tags, the edit entries page should (as well as stating the error) confirm that (apart from the error) the entry was successfully edited.

Perhaps posting an entry that is not exactly what the poster wanted should require confirmation, giving the poster a chance to use existing tags, for instance.

Yes, that would be good, especially since afaik the tag tracking only works if you post it with the tag, not if you edit or add it later on. So if I were to post say some art to a community and I'd tag it accidentally "art:drawn" but the actual comm tag was "art:handdrawn" and then got the error and needed to edit the tag later on, nobody who was tracking that tag would know of my post. So it is rather important to get the tags right at the time of posting.

Just happened to me the other night, same result: the edit still goes through, so time-fail is upon us. And I thought of the same answer to it, but it never occurred to me to post it as a suggestion, so I'm glad you did. (In the meantime, I'm just not adding tags to comm posts anymore - it seems a little - rigid- to get such stern error messages when you're least expecting them).

I think we have a bug open to make notifications fire when tags are added.

If we don't, it ought to be a suggestion. :)
