Create a contact page

Title:
Create a contact page

Area:
site

Summary:
DW has no contact page. This is sad.

Description:
Sometimes 'help' doesn't seem to be what you need (even though it turns out that Support answers all kinds of questions) but you don't know where else to go. Some people might turn to Support anyway; some might just decide not to say anything for lack of direction, which is a shame in my opinion.

If the page is created, it would be nice if there was a link in the footer (+ site map of course).

What sort of things/questions are you thinking of, that don't seem to fit in Help/Support? I'm definitely in favor of making it easy for people to get their questions answered - maybe there's something we can do in addition to or instead of a generic Contacts page, that would help point people in the right direction.

You're right, some of the things in that second chunk aren't obvious things to go looking in Support for. And if someone is too polite to go poking around various admins' journals in search of answers, or just doesn't think of that option either (I probably wouldn't)... seems like a Contact page would indeed be a good place to find those email addresses.

Just for some context, that post was less "expecting people to find it because they'd gone looking for the information" and more "gently trying to persuade people to use the support channels instead of PMing me or leaving me a comment". In other words, it was aimed at the people who'd already gone looking for the various admin. :)

I did that once. Got fed up with a community I was a part of being overrun by "hi I'm new!" posts, so I made a welcome post in order to try and stop the flood. The admins ended up giving me the job of welcoming all new members, and eventually dumped the job of running half of the site on me.

Good thing you already have that job.
