Date Changing

Title:
Date Changing

Area:
Entries

Summary:
Changing Dating Styles

Description:
I know I'm not the only one who uses the dating style of DD/MM/YYYY instead of the American style of MM/DD/YYYY.
I'd like to suggest that the dating style be something that's a choice, not just hardwired.

I'd expect the default to be YYYY/MM/DD, myself. Otherwise, yes.

YYYY-MM-DD, actually, 'cos it's the ISO standard, but yes, I agree.

Correction cheerfully accepted!

Well, it sounds like the specific suggestion made was to make it a choice, not to make it a choice between the two things he listed.

There was some discussion on a similar suggestion a couple months ago: Settings: date display option.

Aha! I knew this sounded duplicate-ish, but I couldn't find it on a quick search.

(I need to do something about the dispatch queue. urk.)

It is a choice already in some places, but yes, it should be a choice everywhere.

We don't let people do this already?

I thought we did, but I can't find it in the settings anywhere. Currently, in S" themes, entries default to Mon XXth 20XX, but comment dates are US standard. Gradation sitescheme, whcih is what I use, uses ISO for both. Weird.

Might be a styles thing in S2?

You can do that in S2, yes, but only Zesty has it as an option I think. Making it work in all styles is bug #833.

There should definitely be a choice between MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, and YYYY/MM/DD.

Good idea. While we're at it, i'd like to see an option for YYYY/MM/DD as well. And leading zeroes.
