Site Scheme: scheme with neutral colors

Title:
Site Scheme: scheme with neutral colors

Area:
site schemes

Summary:
Create a new scheme using more neutral and/or less contrasting colors.

Description:
When you're uncomfortable with bright colors, you don't have much choice. Both Tropos have very bright colors, Celerity isn't so bad but only exists as a vertical layout and is mostly white (so bright too) and Gradation is also a high contrast scheme. I think it would be nice to have a scheme with more neutral colors and/or less contrast.

I think this is part of a bigger issue, which is the overlap and duplication of functionality in styles vs. schemes. It has never made sense to me that there should be two un-related layouts.

My with changes is to effectively drop having so many site schemes.

Just let users define the colours used, most schemes don't have many colours anyway, so let me use Tropo layout, but with my normal sludge-grey background and offwhite text.

Then we don't need to fuss around making a billion schemes, and can concentrate on updating just a few files. It could be done in Tropo or Gradation with a variable I'd guess?

Having now made an identical comment to a different suggestion, I think you're right, but not tonight.

Besides, I do suggestions runs in bunches of 4-5, and I only have three, and one needs a bit more work (3 is fine, but I want to get it straight in my head)

Yup. Picking individual colors runs a BIG risk of missing something and having a screaming purple invader (innuendo intended), but a 'here's the basic tone of foregrounds I want' and 'here's the basic tone of backgrounds I want' should collapse some of the debate on site schemes.

I like this iteration. Especially if site schemes can be modeled after one's journal theme.
