There's a new feature on the Post an Entry page to post using a random icon. It's nifty!

I'd like that function to be available when posting by email.

Suggestion one (this is the one the poll is for):
I suggest the new command "post-icon: random"

Suggestion two:
I've only been seeing the edges of this discussion, so I'm not sure I understand it correctly, but it's about a new way of using icon tags.

It should be possible to give a whole bunch of icons the same tag, for example "fannish".

Then if I choose "fannish" from the drop down menu or write "post-icon: fannish" in the post by email email, the entry would be posted with a random icon from the group tagged "fannish". (Or would there be a list of priority?)

That way I wouldn't accidentally post an entry with a FAIL icon or a mod icon.

So if suggestion two is something you're already working on in some form or other, maybe suggestion one is irrelevant.

'Random Icon' would be dangerous and a feature I'd never use (I have some icons that are reserved for extremely specific uses, and I would not want my spitting cobra on a happy post), but the ability to group icons and then choose a random one from them sounds just so totally cool.

I can also see this being a useful feature should DW expand its icon allowance in the future. Right now, I have almost 200 icons on LJ, and that's more or less my capacity - I'm already struggling to remember the details of lesser icons, and the list to scroll through is very, very long.

I cannot imagine constantly managing 500 icons with a flat list; so icon grouping would be perfect: you choose your group from one dropdown menu (or gods beware, 'all') and the specific icon from another - if you leave the second blank, you get a random icon from that set.

Pretty pretty please with cream on top?

We actually added 'random icon' with the last code push, but it's not a "push a button and the entry's posted with a random icon", it's "push a button and it pops up a random icon for you to use or change".

The second bit of that sounds neat, but outside the scope of this suggestion; would you write it up for a new suggestion? (suggestions generator)

Icon grouping would be something I'd vote for, but I do think it needs to be a separate suggestion.

I'm not going to use random selection as is because I post normally using my category icons, most of which are all I've got left on LJ.
