Add "subscribe to feed link" to DW Announcement emails

Title:
Add "subscribe to feed link" to DW Announcement emails

Area:
DW Announcement emails

Summary:
Please make it easier to subscribe to DW announcement emails and similar in a feed reader, to lessen email inbox clutter.

Description:
I did figure out how to do it, but I wouldn't have without visiting the community page and seeing the "feed available" icons. This feature should be more discoverable, by putting a link in the emailed newsletter, and in the notifications preference page.

I'm vaguely against this, on the basis that a lot of people reading the emails or visiting their notification page won't know what the link means, and will be confused by an extra option they don't understand, and the link does exist already in a fairly logical place.

However, if you can think of a way of phrasing this that would be clear and helpful rather than option bloat, I could be persuaded.

Having a link that's the RSS logo and something like [rss feed] as alt text, next to the row of checkboxes on the notifications page, when the option exists for that one, would be the UI that automatically pops to my mind. Not much more page size, convenient for those who expect it.

Yes, that would work.

I don't think this is necessary. Maybe ask if the feed can be pointed out in a news post sometime so that people who read the announcements and would prefer to get them that way can do so? But I think adding it to emails/notifications page etc. is overkill, and more likely to confuse those who don't use feed readers than to help those who do.

Should we be trying to push the Reading page as an RSS reader (or substitute therefor)? If so, would that change this suggestion any?

It's as discoverable for dw-news as it is for every other journal. It's not a special news property, and I don't think we should suggest that it is.
