Please make imported entries act like crossposted entries

Title:
Please make imported entries act like crossposted entries

Area:
Importing, crossposting

Summary:
When editing imported entries on Dreamwidth, the edits should also be applied to the original post (similar to crossposted entries).

Description:
Occasionally I will edit old entries, to modify tags or fix errors, etc. I was extremely pleased to find that when I edit a crossposted post on DW, its counterpart on LJ is also edited (this made me decide to buy a paid account at DW, in fact). However, if I edit any of my many *imported* entries, the original post it was imported from at LJ is not modified.

It would make a lot of sense to treat imported entries like crossposted entries, and might make people feel more comfortable about coming over to DW, because they know they will have a true mirror of their archive without having to edit two different posts if they need to make a change to one of their older posts.

I would definitely be interested in this if it were provided as an option, but there are some edits I don't want mirrored. For example, if I have a multi-page fic on LJ that was imported, and I change the page links on the DW posts to the DW URLs (or even combine the fic into one post on DW), I wouldn't want those changes made on my LJ pages.

Yes, it's definitely not something I'd want always to happen, but I can see the use in it.

Yes, that would be my preferred behaviour if this was introduced.

Yeah, I cleaned up a lot of posts at DW, private-locked stuff that I didn't want to give access to, etc. I wouldn't actually want those changes to apply to lj, because they were designed to make this journal not a perfect duplicate!

Agreed, but if it followed the standard behavior for cross-posted entries, I'd be happy.

I also assume this would only apply to entries imported from a journal that you have cross posting configured for.

I agree. I'd like it as an option, but sometimes I want the original post on the other site to remain exactly as it is.

I think this idea isn't actually a duplicate since my comments focus more on importing changes made to the other account while this one asks that we be able to make the changes directly from DW in the first place, which actually sounds more convenient.
