Easily add a tag to multiple entries in one go

Title:
Easily add a tag to multiple entries in one go

Area:
tags

Summary:
Sometimes people find themselves realizing that multiple past entries should have been given a certain tag to make navigation easier. How about a way to tag multiple entries at the same time?

If a user could scroll down a list of their post titles and select the ones they want to add a tag to, this would save a lot of time and energy. To give an example of a situation that would benefit from this, let us say an individual has a few hundred posts, half personal discussion-posts and half fandom-related (fanfic, fanart, etc). Only when a few friends mention that they only want to navigate to the personal posts or only to the fandom posts does the journal owner create specific tags to indicate the difference. Going back and adding the proper tag one-by-one could take hours and hours. Having a way to add a tag to multiple posts would alleviate any stress involved in the task and help users keep their journals tidy and well-organized, if they so desire.

I really like this idea.

I've been dying for something like this.

That would also take care of the tag-merging function, as you could just select all the posts with tag A and retag them with tag B, instead of merging A and B.

YES! You don't know how many times I've accidentally misspelled a tag but still tagged entries with it. I end up having to tag all the entries with the right tag first, then delete the old tag. It's very tedious since there's no quick way to tag a mass of entries with the same tag. I'd love a feature like this!

YES!

Yes, it would be a useful workaround for that. I'd still like to be able to rename a tag without adding a new one and deleting the old one, though.

Not if tag B is an existing tag.

I still desperately want tag merging because I'm editing my old LJ and realising that I have in many cases had multiple tags for essentially the same thing, and it's a PITA to have to go and retag them all individually.

Not if tag B is an existing tag.

Why not? 'Select every entry that has tag A and tag them all with tag B, then remove tag A' should work whether B exists or not.

Now that we can search our journals, having this option on the search results would be great.
