make tag tracking cope better with tag changes

Title:
make tag tracking cope better with tag changes

Area:
notification tracking

Summary:
It would be useful if when a tag is renamed my subscription to posts with that tag was renamed as well instead of becoming a "notify me when user XY posts a new entry tagged (blank)" with nothing there in subscriptions and it not working anymore. If the tags are reorganized rather than renamed in a way that makes correspondence of old to new tags unclear, I'd like a notification that the tag I was following doesn't exist anymore, so I know to check manually and update my subscription.

Description:
If I chose to get notified for posts by a user with a certain tag, and then the user for whatever reasons reorganizes or changes the tag names, I often do not become aware of this unless by chance I look through my list of tracked tags/posts and notice the blank spot. So I often miss posts I'd like to read, just because someone decided to rename a tag, for example if someone changed their tag "title" into "fandom: title" because they reorganize all their tags according to fandom.

I would like it if, when a tag is renamed, my subscription to posts with that tag was automatically updated and renamed as well instead of becoming blank and non-functional.

Of course sometimes tag reorganization is more complicated, so that an automatic update of my subscriptions would not be possible, because there is no direct correspondence, like maybe someone had a tag "blather" but then reorganizes to tag half the posts "rant" and the other "essay" or whatever and deletes the "blather" tag, and it would not be clear automatically whether I want to follow "rant", "essay" or both, or even how the new ones are connected at all to the old one, except through the posts tagged. Also the privacy status may have changed, so it could be that I just can't see the tags anymore.

So in those trickier cases I'd just like a notification that the tag I was following doesn't exist anymore (what I can now see by checking manually in my list), so I'd know to go to the journal and update my subscription if the content I want to follow is still there and trackable for me.

The advantage would be that I wouldn't miss posts anymore because my subscriptions don't work, and wouldn't have to rely on checking for blank spaces in my list of tag subscriptions (which can be a very long list after all). I don't see any disadvantages, because right now I already do manually what then would become (partially) automatic, i.e. check for vanished tags and update my subscriptions.
