It would be nifty to have a module that shows the number of unread messages in the inbox.

Description:
It would be really cool to have a module in the sidebar/footer/wherever that showed the number of unread messages in your inbox. As it is now you have to either go to a site style page (requires extra clicks) or use the navbar (mess up your browser window). It would be so much simpler to just be able to refresh the recent entries/reading list page instead.

I'd like it if the navbar showed the number of unread messages, instead of the total number of messages.

Although having said that, I just use my email to keep track of comments, replies and messages ...

I think the navbar already does that - the number behind "inbox" is the number of unread messages. *is confused*

Navbar works fine for me. How does it mess up your browser window?

Also, would this show your inbox on someone else's journal, or theirs, or what?

Oh, I meant in an aesthetic way. I just hate the way it clutters everything up :-)

I was thinking of a module just like the linklist or the calendar, something you could put in the sidebar or footer or wherever the layout you're using allows.

Okay, but if you opt to display that module, and if I look at your journal, do I see my own inbox count or yours, or does it not display at all?

Hmm, I didn't think of that. It would either have to show your own inbox count or not be visible at all. I think I would prefer if it wasn't visible at all.
