Improve comment preview with metadata and post text
Title:
Improve comment preview with metadata and post text
Area:
entries
Summary:
The preview needs more context: I need to see what I'm commenting on! Security status if nothing else.
Description:
I previewed a comment, and then had to open a new tab to find out whether I was commenting on a locked post. I could easily have said something wayyyy too personal on a public post.
The Preview would be much better if it showed context. I think it should at least include the security status and original subject, and maybe the icon, location, music, and mood.
Better yet would be to include the first few lines of the actual post and then a JavaScript accordion-type expansion for the rest of the post. If there are cut-tags, include those for navigation, expanding the post starting from there.
For replies to other comments, the standard links for "Parent" and "Thread from start" would be really helpful, again, for context.

Should be implemented as-is.

I'd vote against having a ton of information display without needing to expand it, because I personally would find that distracting and a lot to scroll through when I'm trying to proof-read my own comment. (But if it were just security level & subject, or if the other information had to be expanded to view, then I'm for it.)

2 being that I always check the status of a post before I hit comment anyway, not that it makes a huge difference, I tend to assume anything I write on someone else's place is under their control as per 1 above.
I'm not vehemently opposed, but I don't see the point. Then I rarely use preview, annoys me too much.

Could be taken to mean something personal about the person who made the original post, not just the commenter. For instance, accidentally calling someone by their real name in the comment on a public post.
Just another perspective...

But thanks, that does actually make more sense--I respect the desires of others to remain pseudonymous, even if I think it's a mugs game, and I could easily do that.
