Summary:
The random icon chooser was a nifty feature that allowed one to utilize all their icons. However, it is not available via the "Quick Reply" option on one's reading page.

Description:
The summary pretty much describes it, but I was just curious if there are any plans to add the random icon chooser as an option while replying to an entry without leaving the Reading Page. Currently, to access the chooser, I have to leave the Reading page by clicking "More Options". Unfortunately, when I do this, if I have typed anything in the comment box, it is erased! That's genuinely the only reason I'm asking; it sucks to write a well-thought out comment, want to choose an icon and be able to see which icon I'm choosing, and then lose the text!

We did think about adding it, but decided that the simpler the form was at first, the better. (We have so many options that it's often hard for people to figure out what each of them are, so we wanted to start with the bare minimums and see what people really missed.) If people are really missing it, though, we can think about adding it in!

(I've opened up a bug, meanwhile, for the "losing text when hitting 'more options'" thing you describe -- that shouldn't oughta happen.)

OK, so I'll change my "with changes" vote to "as-is". "With changes" was only because I was thinking the text not carrying over does indeed sound like a bug.

This isn't an option I use much, and I'd rather keep that form streamlined. Fixing the bug is definitely important, though.

I love the random icon button. Srsly, one of my favorite itty-bitty features on the site. I do miss it on the quick reply!

It's nice to know I'm not alone! That was why I submitted the suggestion: I thought there may be other users who enjoy the feature as much as I do, but also enjoy the ease and convenience of quick reply.
