Sorting styles by date added.

Title:
Sorting styles by date added.

Area:
Styles

Summary:
As almost every update includes new styles, it would be fantastic to have a means of sorting styles by date. As it stands now, we have two categories, and the contents of those are sorted alphabetically - there's no way to determine which are "new" other than not remembering seeing them.

Description:
There could be two ways to resolve this:

1. Somehow incorporate, when a style is added to the system, a note of the date added, and then have a 'Sort by date' link.

2. Simply creating a 'New' category, and putting any "new" styles - say, added in the previous month - in that category, right alongside "Featured" and "All."

I think having a "new" category is a great idea.

Since the featured category promotes new styles I think a 'New' cat would be quite redundant. I'd rather have a 'show me more new styles' link or something similar. So option #1 for me.

I like #1. I would also like it if, since the system would have the date, it could display it. "There was a new style four months ago that I really liked, that was new, but what was it?" Not as important, but handy if the cost barrier is low.

I prefer #1 to #2, and I like the addition of displaying the date. ("Hmm, I know new styles got added, but I don't remember how many or which ones. There are four that are equally recent, so it must be those!")

I like just having the date if that's simpler, but being able to sort by it would be fantastic. I find it hard to believe that EVERY new style makes it into the Featured category (otherwise they'd have just called it New), and I don't typically like the 'standard' ones.

It's called Featured because that's what it was on LJ and no-one's yet suggested to change it, as far as I know. [personal profile] afuna does her best to put new styles in there, but there've been a couple of drops recently where we've had more than 12 new styles, so they can't all fit.

Put me down for #1 -- but seems like it'd work best if instead of an actual date -- 01/01/2009, frex -- it went by a larger group. Like simply "2009/01" and "2009/02" and so on, because just how many styles are usually introduced in a month, anyway? A dozen, maybe two dozen at most?

I suggest putting year first, for sorting purposes -- then you'd get all the same year together, followed by month, and could sort ascending or descending. Doing it with month first, then you'd get all januaries, all februaries, instead of being able to go through all of 2009 chronologically and then into 2010.

sorry, had to go back and look at which one I'd used -- yep, it's takeable!

#1, as Featured already includes new styles. (It just misses some when we have more than 12 new styles in a drop.)
