Description:
Last time I looked, the display of polls on the Latest Things page was lacking.

It would be lovely to show either the voting form (for a public poll) or otherwise the results so far. However, since polls can be long, that could be a bit funky for the page. Failing the ability to display the poll in an appropriate format, show a link in a similar format to the poll links on crossposts.

I don't understand why anyone would vote no on this??? (Though it looks like this same person has voted no on everything else that's gone up today. So who knows.)

My personal practice is to only vote no if I think a particular change would be harmful to the site, or if I really couldn't stand it, but I understand some folks have other voting priorities.

Yeah, me too. I guess there are always gonna be a few people who don't care about anyone's site experience but their own, though.

On the whole, I find Dreamwidth suggestions far more restful than some other suggestions areas I could name. Partly because I'm not the one in charge of all the moderation, and partly because I have reason to believe that the owners' priorities for approving ideas for implementation align well enough with mine that I don't have to freak out if I see an idea that would break all kinds of things if implemented as initially described. Then that trust in their priorities helps me not get skittish and yell about how bad I think the idea is, but instead try and figure out how it could be made to work.

I have no opinion on this but if it is easy to vote from the latest things page that can distort what you expect from your public poll, because more random people see the poll and might click, when you just expected your circle and maybe tangentially the network to vote.

I'd prefer a link in a similar format to the poll links on crossposts than actually having the poll on the Latest Things page.

This-I dont' care who votes in my polls but I sometimes post publicly but in the expectation that for the most part only normal readers will read the poll, while it doesn't matter if extras vote, having everyone that reads latest ticking all the boxes might get annoying.

A link means those interested can go see, but not eveyone will bother, a reasonable compromise.

You mean the polls on their own, or in the context of the entry? Many polls make no sense if removed from an entry.

Basically I'd like to have something there to indicate that there is a poll. I encountered this some time ago and put a note in my to-do list so my memory is a little hazy, but I remember it being just nothing there, and only figuring out that there was supposed to be a poll from the rest of the entry and then loading the entry.

If it was a link to just the poll within the entry, then the reader could decide on their own whether to just scroll on by, open the entry, or open just the poll.

Okay, now it all makes sense! You can tell I, uh, don't use the latest things page. It definitely seems to me that there should be some indication of hey, poll here in this entry, if there isn't.

I think it would be better to have some sort of place-holder. People can go to the entry if they're interested. There should be something not just a gap, tho!
