Description:
Some layouts in Dreamwidth—especially the non-fixed width types—don't specify a width for the brackets in the comment form, so the brackets get wrapped like this.

I presume this is an oversight, since the brackets do align correctly when viewed in site skin.

Hence, I suggest to replace the existing spaces between the brackets to non-breaking spaces.

Advantages:
- A better looking comment form

Disadvantages:
- May break some users' layouts
- May break some Dreamwidth layouts

I'd love to vote fully in favor of this (instead of "with changes") if I only knew what the heck you're talking about. I don't know which brackets you're referring to nor exactly where - and all your screen caps are 403 Forbidding. :)

That's because this post took so long to go live. I submitted this suggestion in early November, and seeing that it didn't go live for more than a week, I took the images down under the impression that my suggestion was rejected. :/

Would you like some help with that? I know it means keeping a lot of state in your brain (i.e. basically the whole contents of Bugzilla) but I'm betting someone could do an initial pass every week or so and then pass it on to you for approval.

Actually, I don't have a ton of problems forgetting what's been suggested before -- my big blocker is having to reject the suggestions that have been proposed over and over and over and won't ever get implemented because it isn't technically possible or doesn't fit with our vision for the site. Explaining why is usually one of those "slightly annoying tasks that I put off for a bit when the notification comes in", which then turns into one of those "really embarrassing tasks that have been sitting for forever and are therefore something that is very behind and needs to be caught up on". :D

A thing that I did which may or may not be something that would work for you:

When helping with LJ suggestions, I maintained an entry with the queue rejection notes I had sent other people (for various reasons) over the years, since rejection notes don't get saved so moderators can review what they sent. Even though the actual time to complete the task once I started probably didn't change much, being able to modify/customize something I wrote earlier was less of a cognitive barrier than writing from scratch every damn time.

(Oh, wow. On that last line, I was having a hilarious jumping scrollbar effect every other letter. It swapped between horizontal scroll and vertical scroll. That was new.)

Yeah, I have many of the most frequent saved, but I'm not really of the "something to modify is less cognitive barrier than something to write from scratch" category -- it usually takes me more effort to modify something to make it appropriate than it does to start over from scratch.

I fully know I am a cognitive outlier in this case :D
