Enhancements to "find users with similar interests"

Title:
Enhancements to "find users with similar interests"

Area:
interests

Summary:
There is a nice feature on http://www.dreamwidth.org/interests called "Find people or communities with interests similar to those of:" However, a few changes could be made to make the results more user-friendly.

Description:
I am not sure whether many people know this feature, but to find other users with similar interests, you can use the "Find people or communities with interests similar to those of:" feature on http://www.dreamwidth.org/interests .

However, the results of that search are a bit... wonky. I'd suggest a few things:

1. Don't show deleted users. We can't subscribe to them anyway.

2. Have an option to not show people you already subscribe to - this page is a bit cluttered with people I already read for me.

3. Split in personal and OpenID accounts. subscribing to OpenID accounts is kind of pointless, so I'd rather see them in a separate list, as this tool seems to be designed to find people to read.

I think that's what I can come up with right now. I am sure more could be done with that page.

With changes: Leave OpenID accounts off altogether; as you say, they can't be subscribed to, and so the double list seems like extra stuff on the page when you're trying to simplify it.

I had at one point considered suggesting point 2, but never got around to it. I also like 1 and 3. :D

Against the with changes, because one may be looking to recruit people for a project or to join a comm or begin a conversation, not merely people to read. (also, one might end up reading an openid user on their home blogging site, or as a DW feed.)
