I'd like to be able to pick the new journal search through entries as one choice among the older kinds of searches (interests, faq, users, and so on -- that box in the toolbar and on the sitescheme).

Description:
I find it inconvenient that I have to go to the profile page to click on the search link there to search my journal. I would like it better if I could pick to search my journal from the toolbar in the search field already there along with the other options, especially when I am on my own journal or my own friends page.

That would work with my expectation that search boxes that show up on a blog allow me to search it, so it seems natural to me that my search box when viewing my journal should offer to search it if the option is available. Maybe it could be smart too, so that if I am visiting a community where I can also use an entry search my toolbar would show me the option to search that community.

This sounds sensible, though it would need some careful thought for when on communities, and for clarification when full site search is implemented.

Adding "My Journal" to the drop-down list is the same code wherever you are, so that's straightforward.

For communities, "This community" could be added to the drop-down, both on the navbar and in site scheme, when viewing pages from a paid community. That would need to disappear when on a personal journal or free community.

Isn't there going to be site-wide search as well? Therefore I think it should be titled instead "search my journal" vs. "search for entries."

I don't know anything about upcoming search features. But yeah if there was a site wide search it should be named specifically, or even in any case. I don't care much how it is phrased, as long as it is there with the other search options we have, not put only on a link on the profile.

YES. I suggested just this the other day, after being yet again disappointed that the search box did NOT actually allow me to search my journal. :P
