Crossposting a place-holder or link only

Title:
Crossposting a place-holder or link only

Area:
crossposting

Summary:
Ability to crosspost either a placeholder or link only, instead of the whole body of a journal entry.

Description:
It would be nice to have the capabilty/ option of crossposting a placeholder or link only instead of the whole body of a journal entry for those of us who would like to post more content on DW and as little as possible on the other site (like LJ) yet let friends reading those other journals know when a new post has been made.

I'm torn on this one. Yet another option...

I would love, love, love to have this option.

I'd like to have the option of just sending a link, just sending the first paragraph and a link, or even sending the entry but with cuts pointing here to the actual entry, not to the LJ backup.

This is similar to truncated crossposts.

I still vote for my own trunc tag suggestion.

I seriously can't make up my mind if this would be a good thing to have or just another option to clutter up things.

What if it were something like "use my synlevel (amount of information sent out in syndicated feeds) settings for crossposts"?

I don't think for this we need worry too much about option creep, the page there is already cluttered (and probably could do with a makeover at some point), and allowing format to be 'post a link', 'post an exerpt', 'post with cuts linking here' or 'post full entry' isn't going to confuse power users, whereas non power users probably won't look past the existing Footer controls.

Hmm, that sounds like it has potential.

I think there's space for both this and [personal profile] kaigou's trunc tag suggestion.

Perhaps the posting page should have a basic version and and expanded version with all of the extra bells and whistles? Users can either select one or the other as default, or even possibly have finer control from a posting options control panel type screen.
