adding to circle ought to default to an add

[Suggestion made by OpenID user, reposted by moi.]

Summary:

"add to circle" ought to default to both "grand access" and "subscribe" checked, then let me uncheck one if i wish.

Description:

when i click add to circle, no boxes are checked by default. perhaps the most compelling argument can be made for having both checked by default (both grant access and subscribe). but at least one ought to be checked by defualt. lest why did i click "add to circule"?

Or perhaps, could there be a user preference somewhere to set the behavior of these checkboxes? "When I click Add to Circle, I want 1. Subscribe checked by default 2. Grant access checked by default 3. Neither 4. Both" ?

I know [staff profile] denise doesn't love additional options, but this seems like the best way to fix it, if we're not renaming the link entirely.

*nods* I love lots of extra fiddly options for high granularity of control - but then I am perhaps not the typical user. With the current page, if it could just be made so that the "Send me email" box wasn't wedded to "Send me a notice in my inbox" box (if they could be checked independently), that'd satisfy my own personal desires.

I was just talking about this yesterday (the send me an email box thing) because, if I'm getting email notifs for comments to my entries etc, I really don't need the notices in my "inbox" on the site as well. (Plus, I'm a little compulsive about making sure there's no (#) next to the "inbox" link because otherwise I go a little batty)

All I'd really need the "inbox" for is private on-site messages. Of course, I'm not every user, but I'd like the ability to have that separated into two options.

Yes, there's already a bug in the tracker to split it - it just needs a developer to pick it up.

Oh, sweet. I've only really been coming around DW for the last week or so, so I admit to not really nosing around all that much yet. Thank you. :)
