Create icon-managing web app

Title:
Create icon-managing web app

Area:
icons

Summary:
Default icons, random icons, random per community, random per character, random per situation, icons made by you yourself, icons free for others to take. That's a lot of groups icons can be in. We need a way to manage them, and it should be quicker and easier than tagging checkboxes.

Description:
Inspired by a discussion on this suggestion, Exclude Individual Icons from Random Selection: http://dw-suggestions.dreamwidth.org/385214.html

I had the idea that an easy way to do this would be to create a web app that would let you drag-and-drop icons into groups, or draw boxes around them or select them in more advanced ways. It'd let you quickly and easily manage your icons, for a variety of situations including the one described in that suggestion.

It should have a more basic fallback, for accessibility reasons, and should run in a mobile browser. And it should probably be available to all members, but paid members would obviously get the most use out of it.

I remember Mark was talking a while ago about a way to tag icons, which I'd like even better than this.

I remember that too and I agree that icon tags would probably be a much better management tool than the one described in this suggestion. Particularly for those who've A LOT of icons *tries to look innocent*

This sounds more useful to me, personally. (Also my computer is getting older and slower and I'm afraid any nifty little drag and drop thing would kill it in the face.)

+1 for tagging icons

Oooh, ooh, especially if they can be multilevel tags. I would kill (a ... small... mosquito) for that!

I am in favor of any spiffy way of managing/grouping icons that is inspired by this post. (I'm probably a little more in favor of doing it with tags, but playing "dragon-drop" with icons in a web app might be fun, too.)

(Also, yes, I know it's drag-and-drop, but that's drag'n'drop, so, well...)
