Add "All Circle Members" to Circle Gifts

Title:
Add "All Circle Members" to Circle Gifts

Area:
Shop

Summary:
Add a category of All Circle to the Circle Gifts shop along with the current "Free Accounts" and "Expiring Soon" categories.

Description:
I bought a paid account last year for someone on my friends list. I went in today to renew mine and hers. I thought "cool, there's an option for gifting someone in my circle!

But it only listed people with free accounts, communities or expiring in the next month.

It didn't list her so I had to copy/paste her user name. Not the end of the world but I was worried I'd type her name wrong. And I'm a lazy bugger.

I'd suggest to keep the current groupings as they are and maybe add either "other users in your circle with paid accounts" or just "other users in your circle" which lists the other members in your circle.

(*And by Circle I'm not sure if people would prefer only those with mutual subscriptions or all circle members).

Editted to add: What if the categories were set to default "show" but you could click ta +/- or up/down arrows to show/hide each category at will?? This lets you manage who you might want to buy an account for; if you don't want to see say the communities or other users, but do want to see free accounts.

I ran into this too. My friend had a premium account, and it wasn't expiring soon, and she didn't show up as someone I could give a gift to. I still wanted to give a gift to her, regardless of her account's status. I mucked around a bit to make sure I wasn't just missing something obvious, and then risked entering her name directly.

It seemed odd and sort of ... un-inclusive.

This thread explains a bit more about why it is that way.

The main downside I see (and I'm saying this based on only my memory of doing it about a month ago) is the risk of paying for the wrong person. You'd think you'd know the username of a friend you are willing to pay for, but some names are similar and some of us are *cough* absent-minded. Parting with money is one situation where I'd feel a lot safer to have multiple choice instead of write-in.
YMMV.

Oh, yes! There's certainly legit reasons to do it the other way 'round, and I'm not at all opposed to changing it if people would find it more helpful than pushy (although I don't know how Mark feels!) But I wanted to make sure people knew that we had a reason for doing it the other way.
