I picked other because the first proposed implementation triggered my "OH HELL NO" response, even though I agree with a lot of the rest.
I like the idea of a vacation mode, and I think it should be filed near the deletion in some way, but I am adamantly opposed to the idea of vacation mode dumping into deletion unless reversed.
I like the idea of being able to add time onto the grace period before the journal is expunged, but I'd think of that as separate and would not want to see it used by people who intend to return.
If it were a timed vacation mode, the intuitive thing to do from my point of view would be to automatically re-activate the journal after the set vacation time was over.
